Greetings from Prague, the last stop on our Fall 2022 European tour. We arrived in Prague this afternoon from London, where we spent the last few days walking around the city, drinking pints of beer and gin and tonics at various pubs, and eating hearty and comforting English pies for dinner each night. Prior to that, we spent 3 weeks in Bordeaux and Paris, France.
If you follow us on Instagram, we just posted a reel of the beautiful apartment we are staying at while in Prague. It’s a dream apartment…take a look!
We’ve stayed at a lot of Airbnbs over the last 10 years, and we put together a list of the ones we really liked and recommend (U.S. and international). You can view the list here and bookmark it for future travels.
What We’ve Been Eating & Drinking:
Lots of french cheeses (Camembert, Brie, Pont l'Évêque, and Comté to name a few), baguettes, pastries, Canelé, crepes (savory and sweet), Neopolitan pizza, Taiwanese noodles and bao buns, lots of espresso, and veggie English pies. We also had a proper English breakfast (veggie) on the morning we arrived in London, which really hit the spot. The side of pancakes isn’t traditional though 😊.
Lots of red wine from Bordeaux and Gamay regions (very inexpensive in France), pints of Guinness and English lagers, different types of gin and tonics (different gins, different tonics, you get it), and not enough water. We gotta work on that.
What We’ve Been Watching:
We just finished Anatomy of a Scandal (Netflix) which takes place in London and was pretty good, and we’re in the middle of Kleo (Netflix) about a German spy. I just started Lincoln Lawyer (Neflix), and Chris is rewatching it with me. We love Michael Connelly's stories. Watch Bosch if you haven’t yet…it’s so, so good!
What are you watching, and what should we watch next? We have almost all the steaming services so let us know!
Chris is currently sitting on the couch next to me, reading about Czech beer…here are a few highlights of what he’s learned:
Pilsners are one of the most popular beers in the world and originate in the Czech Republic and are named after the Czech town of Pilsen - a town about 40 miles south of Prague. Pilsner Urquell, the biggest brewery in the country, brewed the first Pilsner in history sometime around 1839-1842.
In the Czech Republic, there is a type of beer called called ‘tank beer’ (pivo z tanku). Tank beer isn’t kegged like other beer, rather it bypasses pasteurization and is transported directly from the brewery, in temperature-controlled trucks, within a matter of a few hours. The result is apparently fresher-tasting beer. We’ll be on the lookout to try this…
We’re off to go grab a few pints and find some dinner. Hope you’re all doing well - have a great day!
