Welcome to Today's Location and hello from Washington! In our first newsletter, we are sharing why/how we decided to do extended travel and our plans for 2022 and 2023.
I went to Istanbul, and it was awesome. I currently have students from Peru, Taiwan & Morocco and can find out about places to go for you. I have my students give presentations on why people should visit their countries, so I will know more later.
Tricia, is there a neighborhood you'd recommend staying in, in Istanbul? When you were there did you do a hotel or Airbnb? We haven't yet started researching Istanbul yet in detail, and appreciate any recommendations you have for things to do, things to skip, areas to stay in, food to try, etc. Thanks!
How cool is this?!?! Wow! I am thankful I can share in your experiences remotely (as I am a chicken with traveling!) Have fun, be safe! Love, Elizabeth
Thanks for the tip! Essaouira was not on my radar. When’s a good time of year to visit Dakar when it’s not so hot and humid? A reunion sounds excellent
Would recommend Portugal - I'm not the most well traveled person but it's my favorite place I have visited. Beautiful country, nice ppl, good food, and inexpensive.
Thanks for the recommendation, Deb! Added it to our list as I'm sure we'll be back next year too since we have family in the area and close by. Is Athens worth visiting? We always fly into Atlanta but I've never spent any time there. Any recommendations for a first trip to Atlanta?

I have a friend who lives in Montevideo right now, the people there are supposed to be quite nice.
Thanks, Anthony! I’ve heard great things about Montevideo, and just saw that’s it’s close to Buenos Aires. Could be a good combined trip...

Love you, Elizabeth! Thanks for your support and for following along. We're excited to hopefully see you later this year.
Congratulations on Today's Location launch. Looking forward to reading about your adventures, and seeing photos or the locales you visit. YAY!

Thanks, Greg! We always appreciate your encouragement and genuine interest in what we do - it means a lot to us.
Essaouira Morocco is incredible. Short flight from Morocco to Dakar 😉

The weather in Dakar is perfect from December to June.
Noted! We're looking at possibly doing Morocco this spring...let's chat more

Ben, your previous trip to Portugal is what initially made us want to go there years ago.
It’s been on our list for awhile and it’s been moved up every year. I think it’s almost a definite that we’ll make it happen in 2023.
Any specific places or things you’d recommend from your time there? Or specific food/drinks to try?
What parts of Georgia?
We’re doing two different trips there this year.
One trip to the Lake Oconee area and then the next to Augusta
Nice - never been. I never explored much outside my teen/college student bubble, but I spent a lot of time in the Atlanta area and Athens.
Cumberland Island is amazing! Love seeing wild horses at the beach. This is worth a stop if you’re ever in the Savannah area.
Added these to our list - they sound great! I’d enjoy trying the Cokes too. We’re any of them drastically different from each other?
They were different. Some real doozies.

It's touristy, but I always enjoyed the Coke museum for trying all the cokes from around the world.
